The Merimbula Chamber of Commerce started the year with a new, energetic Committee focused on supporting the local business community.
There are numerous tasks ahead. The accomplishments for this year will depend on the availability of resources including: the time of Committee members who are either business owners or in management positions with major employers; and financial support provided by memberships, sponsorships, and grants.
We encourage you to renew your membership this year so that we can continue our important work for the benefit of our community. We will also seek sponsorship and apply for grants when available to undertake special projects or conduct special events where appropriate.
Our newly established Committee, responsible for areas such as website management, social media, fundraising and membership are working hard behind the scenes to catch up on areas that have been neglected in recent years.

Sub-committees will be formed as needed during the year. All members are invited to work with the sub-committees in their area of interest to help achieve our objectives.
Retail Sub-committee
A Retail Sub-committee will be working on low/no cost activities during the year designed to help activate the town during quiet times, Easter, and Christmas. Planning is underway, and member input for upcoming events/activities is encouraged.
The Easter Window Decorating Competition kicks off the year, with a $1,000 advertising package from ARN Media as the prize. Supporting tourism, the Sub-committee will assist groups like the Jazz and WinterSun Festival Committees, inviting businesses to decorate windows and share social media posts to promote these events.
Town Planning Sub-committee
The Chamber will advocate with the Bega Valley Shire Council regarding the Merimbula CBD Master Plan. It supports pausing the project until all stakeholders, including businesses, are fully informed and able to give feedback. A sub-committee is focused on this issue to help the community achieve the best outcome. Your input is welcomed. Contact details above.
